Custodial Services personnel provide daily custodial and labor services Monday through Friday for more than 4.0 million square feet of E&G buildings on campus. The cost of custodial services for E&G buildings are included in the Physical Plant's operating budget. Custodial Services also provides service request to Auxiliary Organizations as a paying job.

The Custodial Service program operates three shifts. The first shift operation works from 6:30 A. M. - 3:30 P.M., and is responsible for continuous building policing and service, special projects, and emergency requests for service. The second shift performs duties from 8 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. and works rotating Sundays to service facilities in which special activities have been scheduled. The third shift performs general cleaning of E&G buildings from 10 P.M. - 6:30 A.M. The HSC/FMHI staff performs general cleaning from 6 P.M. -2:30 A.M.

Planned Custodial Activities

Custodial Services restores building facilities according to a high standard of appearance and service set for the University of South Florida. The services listed are scheduled to maintain this standard.

Daily Custodial Services Program

• Vacuum high traffic carpeted areas.
• Pick up litter, empty trash (Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays for Offices Monday-Friday for Food and Public Areas) and pencil sharpeners.
• Resupply all paper products and soap dispensers.
• Clean and disinfect all lavatory fixtures.
• Spot clean carpeting to remove stains and gum.
• Remove centrally located recycle paper for pickup.

Weekly

• Spot clean all entrance and inside glass surfaces.
• Sweep, dust mop, and spot mop uncarpeted floors.
• Spray buff-coated floors, damp mop others.

Semiannual Services

• Vacuum all upholstered furniture.
• Vacuum all carpeting.

Annual Services

• Shampoo all carpeting.
• Clean and vacuum blinds, and vents.
• Clean and/or strip and rewax all resilient floors.
• Clean and seal all concrete floors.

Equipment Loans and Setup Services

Custodial Services has the following equipment available for use at homecoming, registration, concerts, graduations, and other special University events:

• Folding Tables
• Chairs
• Floor-type Lecterns

Equipment is usually available on a first-come, first-serve basis for University-sanctioned events on University property. During peak periods, priority is given to major public E&G functions. Custodial Services will deliver, set up, and remove the equipment for E&G functions. There is a small rental fee per item, with a minimum charge of $25.00. Equipment requests must be made to the Service Center at least ten days before the event. The borrower must sign a loan agreement and pay for any damages or loss of equipment. Items are available free of charge if picked up and returned to the Physical Plant warehouse by customers.
