2. DISPATCH AND DISTRIBUTION AREA

Business Hours: 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., Monday – Friday (4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. is the busiest time.)

The Dispatch and Distribution Area is responsible for:

• Campus mail delivery and pickup (mail routes)
  
  
• Incoming United States Postal Service mail
  
  
• Outgoing metered mail (postage applied)
  
  
• Intra-campus mail
  
  
• Student resident mail

Official University Business Mail

The Campus Mail Delivery and Pickup System is for conducting official university business only. Eligibility in this instance is defined as university departments, organizations, foundations and student residents.

USF Post Office employees deliver and pick up mail on campus, once daily, Monday thru Friday, excluding university holidays, at all assigned delivery locations.

USF Post Office employees cannot pick up Registered mail on the campus routes. Customers are requested to bring Registered mail to the USF Post Office Contract Station.

Mail is dispatched to the United States Postal Service (USPS) twice daily, and must be ready for dispatch at 1:00 P.M. and 4:00 P.M. If a department has mail that is not prepared by the time of their regularly scheduled pickup, the mail may be brought to the USF Post Office no later than 4:00 P.M. However, there is no guarantee that this mail will be included in the last dispatch to the United States Postal Service for the day.

Personal Mail

With the exception of the student residents, the campus mail delivery and pickup system is not for personal use. Faculty and staff should ensure that their personal mail is addressed to their own residence or personal mailbox. USF Post Office employees cannot pick up personal mail on the campus mail routes.

Mailbox Rental

The USF Post Office rents university owned mailboxes for personal use. These mailboxes are accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, mail that is too large to fit in the mailbox and mail that requires a signature, needs to be retrieved during our business hours.

Miscellaneous

USF Post Office also processes Business Reply, Postage Due and Undeliverable as Addressed Mail. Undeliverable as Addressed Mail is mail that cannot be delivered due the following circumstances:

• The address is unknown
  
  
• The address supplied is insufficient to locate the addressee
  
  
• The addressee has moved and left no forwarding address
